Meet The Owners
Steve and Maddy
Steve was born and raised in Lowville, NY located in the Northern New York region. After high school, he moved to California where he began his career as a commercial moving contractor. During this time traveling nationwide, he developed a desire for providing outstanding customer service. Steve returned to Lowville in 2001 with a goal to create a space for the local community to gather and celebrate with one another.
Maddy was born and raised in Northern California and moved to Lowville in 2001 after meeting Steve. She has had an extensive career as an international flight attendant. Maddy’s attention to detail and interest in interior design can be seen throughout the property. She is fun-loving, driven for success and has put many years into creating the image The Maples still maintains today.
A Legacy of Gathering and Celebration
Formerly The Deer Hill Restaurant in the 1980’s, Steve and Maddy purchased the restaurant and surrounding property in 2001. They completely remodeled it, opening in 2002 as The Maples. They recognized the need for a special gathering place for locals and visitors offering quality food, entertainment and fun! Within the 45 acre property you will find an expansive lawn, large grove of maple trees and a beautiful pond.
Originally, The Maples was established as a full time bar and restaurant known for their award winning prime rib and numerous community events. They hosted fine dining and casual elegance with Mother’s Day, Easter and Sunday brunches. In addition to restaurant services, The Maples also hosted beautiful weddings, Polka dances, Hail and Farewells for 10th Mountain Soldiers in Fort Drum, Adopt-A-Soldier Program, Mexican dinner nights, and much more.
Steve and Maddy strive to make their guests’ experiences memorable by providing a personal, inviting and elegant atmosphere. Today, they are focusing on providing a venue for special events only beginning January 2025.
